(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 29 - The US Supreme Court has refused to block the anti-Covid vaccine obligation imposed by Maine on health workers, despite the objections of some applicants, according to which the measure violates their religious freedom rights.

Maine has required vaccination against various contagious diseases since 1989, allowing exemptions only for medical but not religious or philosophical reasons based on a law adopted in 2019, before the pandemic, and approved with 73% of the votes in a referendum.

In August it also included the Covid vaccine.
