With the continuation of theatrical performances of the third Youth Monodrama Festival, the National House of Books Theater in Aleppo hosted today the theatrical performance “Do Not Extinguish” by Sawsan Ali.

The show presents an approach to the reality of women under the current circumstances and their constant attempt to overcome the obstacles they encounter in a satirical way.

Mohamed Hegazy, Director of the National Library, pointed to the interaction of the festival audience and the fullness of the theater in each presentation, especially during the discussion sessions after the presented works, which reflects the desire of young people to increase their knowledge about theater, learn experiences and knowledge, and see some specialized details.

Sawsan Ali, the author and director of the work that she represented, considered that what distinguishes this text is the attempt to approach reality and stay away from symbolism, by approaching the reality of the audience and presenting a simple work away from symbols and connotations, stressing that it is not a biography but a tangible reality for some artists.

Sawsan considered that the message of the work is for a person to be patient and not lose hope, even if he faces many difficulties, describing the art of monodrama as difficult because it drains the actor's energy and requires high craftsmanship and physical fitness.

Among the attendees, the plastic artist, Faten Al-Helou, praised the efforts of young people in the theater and their remarkable creativity through their performances within the festival.
