Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji reiterated his country's position that the Yemeni people alone can decide their fate.
During today's discussions with the UN Secretary-General's envoy on Yemeni affairs, Hans Grand Berg, Khaji expressed Iran's readiness to support all "just efforts" on the part of the United Nations to resolve the crisis in Yemen, noting that lifting the unjust siege on this country constitutes the first steps to resolve the political crisis in it. .
He added that the lack of trust constitutes the missing link in the context of pushing the wheel of negotiations forward, calling for taking practical steps, especially with regard to humanitarian issues, to build confidence again.
In turn, the UN envoy stressed that the Yemeni people are the only ones who should determine their fate, pointing to the importance of the role of countries in the region, including Iran, to support the peace process in this country.
