There was a knife attack on an ICE between Regensburg and Nuremberg.
The train is currently in Seubersdorf in the Upper Palatinate, said a spokesman for the federal police on Saturday morning.
According to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, several people were injured.
A police spokesman told the broadcaster that the background was unclear.
He could not say whether there was an arrest.
The emergency call was received by the police at 9:20 a.m.
The police are on site.
A spokesman for Deutsche Bahn said the Regenburg-Nuremberg line had been closed since around 9 a.m.
"At the moment the trains are being held back at suitable stations."
