The case of the rape and pregnancy of an 11-year-old girl in Bolivia has rekindled the debate on abortion.
Meanwhile, it has also revealed the complex reality of sexual and gender violence suffered by women and girls in this country.
Through a court order, the abused minor interrupted her pregnancy last weekend, according to government minister Eduardo del Castillo.
The minor was discharged and will be placed under the care of the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents.
The Catholic Church harshly criticized the decision.
