At Ronen Bar's request, a meeting was held with the Palestinian Authority chairman in Ramallah a week ago, before his visit to Egypt, where he met with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamal.

Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar met with Abu Mazen a week ago in the office of the Palestinian Authority chairman in Ramallah.

This is what Palestinian Authority officials confirmed to "Israel Today" today (Tuesday).

The meeting was held before Ronen Bar's meeting with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamal in Cairo, and was held at Bar's request.

As you may recall, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz met with Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen in Ramallah about two and a half months ago, in the first official meeting of a senior minister with the PA chairman since 2010.

A source close to the prime minister commented on the meeting, saying: "The Gantz-Abu Mazen meeting has been approved in advance by the prime minister. This is a meeting that deals with current issues of the defense establishment vis-à-vis the Palestinian Authority.

During the meeting, Ganz told Chairman Abu Mazen that Israel is ready for a series of measures that will strengthen the Palestinian Authority's economy. The two also discussed shaping the security, civilian and economic realities in Judea and Samaria and Gaza.

The two even agreed to keep in touch on the various issues raised.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was briefed at the meeting.
