“I've never experienced anything like it at Brauneck,” commented a Lenggrieser on Sunday about the onslaught of recreational athletes.
Because imperial weather and powder snow made for an absolute winter fairy tale.
Lenggries
- very few people wanted to miss out on such a wonderful winter sports experience.
And so, early on Sunday morning, there was a huge rush on the streets, parking lots and slopes.
Finally, the access roads to the parking lots were even closed.
From Wegscheid the traffic jammed almost as far as the roundabout to Lenggries.
Long waiting times at the control stations were the result of the crowd.
Because, as is well known, only those who have been vaccinated or recovered were transported in the lifts (we reported).
Every skier and snowboarder had to show the 2G proof together with the identity card when buying the lift ticket.
Those who finally made it to the slopes were nevertheless satisfied: “A winter day like a picture book,” agreed the athletes.

Nobody expected so much snow before Christmas
For winter sports enthusiasts, the opening of the ski season - now without 2G plus, as was initially requested - was a wonderful surprise two weeks before the Christmas presents.
Sufficient flakes in the days before and cold temperatures to produce machine snow enabled the season to start earlier than planned.
“Somewhat surprising.
I felt like a first grader who started school a year earlier than planned, ”said Josef Wohlmuth from the Streidlhanglift.
Quick action was taken to organize and prepare everything for the athletes.

On Sunday there were fantastic conditions for winter sports fans on the Draxlhang.
Before they could hit the slopes, however, the skiers and snowboarders first had to queue at the lift.

Great praise for the behavior of the athletes in the matter of Corona
Many parents and their children had already come to the foot of the Brauneck on Friday. Even if the lifts weren't in operation, the fun in the snow was also a lot of fun. “I was really looking forward to a sleigh ride with my little sister. Now we've raced down the slope three times, ”said Veronika happily and let her dad pull her back upstairs. From Saturday on, it was much easier for the piste athletes to go up. Almost all ascent aids in the entire Brauneck area were in operation. At the valley station of the mountain railway, security staff checked the evidence and - even on Saturday, despite the mixed weather - had a lot to do. “A human chain formed up to the parking lot half an hour before the start of operations,” said one employee. At the same time, he also praised the winter sports enthusiasts: “Everyone was patient, there were no problems whatsoever. All rules and specifications were adhered to. "

The winter sports enthusiasts Andreas, Dennis and Sebastian gave a simple reason for this: “Everyone is happy to finally be able to ski again.
Everyone is happy to wait for that. ”The trio had already completed their first descent and were enthusiastic:“ An absolute pleasure.
Everything is well prepared, we want to go back upstairs immediately. "
In Wegscheid, too, the friends Christine and Adele from Sachsenkam and Warngau swung away with great swing and raved: “Powder fun almost on the doorstep and right at the start of the season.
That doesn't happen every year either. "

Finally back on the slopes: anyone who had a parking space was happy about the fantastic conditions.

There was no long queuing in the morning hours on Saturday in Wegscheid. With the Milchhäusexpress and maple armchair, it quickly went all the way up. Because of the snowfall and fog there was of course not an optimal view. For many, a welcome opportunity to try out how well the stopover still works. And here, too, the instructions were carefully followed. “People are employed at a distance and I have to say that the people are considerate,” confirmed Hans Müller from the Straßeralm. Only Hüttenfetz with loud music was taboo. But happy sounds could be heard after all. In the chairlift, a group of young girls sang Wolfgang Ambros' classic "Schifoan". And they always emphasized from the winter sports hymn “... because skiing is the hardest thing to do, which can only be knocked out.“This was confirmed at the parking lot by the Munich-based Sabrina and Wolfgang, who were just stowing their boards in the car:“ It was fantastic. Finally skiing again, absolutely bearded snow and good slope conditions. Now we're going to end our start to the season with a good meal in a restaurant. Hello and ski safe, see you soon ”.
