"Installation of wind turbines against the will of the municipalities: why is it an injustice"

TRIBUNE - We are living in a paradox: public opinion is increasingly hostile to wind turbines. However, the government in no way reduces the planned scale of its development and rejects all attempts by parliamentarians who could slow it down, deplores the former senior official Patrice Cahart.

Patrice Cahart was Director of the Tax Legislation Department at the Ministry of Finance.

He is notably the author of “La Peste Aolienne” (Éditions Hugo, 2021).

The wind turbines that are offered to us today in France can do nothing for the climate.

Before they are authorized, established and commissioned, the last coal-fired power stations will have closed.

Therefore, the production of new wind turbines cannot replace the production of electricity from fossil fuels.

Gas-fired power stations will remain, but unfortunately we cannot do without them, because they compensate for the intermittence of wind power and photovoltaic power.

In our country, a wind turbine operates, on average, at only 25% of its power, and a photovoltaic collector, at 15% of its power.

To provide consumers with a regular supply, we have to resort to gas-fired power stations, which pollute them.
