(ANSA) - HONOLULU, 04 FEB - The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Australia next week for a ministerial meeting of the Quad group which will also involve his counterparts from India and Japan, to discuss maritime safety and cooperation against Covid.
He reports them to the State Department in a statement.
Blinken will also travel to the Fiji Islands, on the first visit by a US secretary of state since 1985, and then to Hawaii, on February 12, for a trilateral meeting with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts on North Korea.
If not mentioned directly in the communiqué, China's rise in the area will be the focus of Blinken's various talks.
