China's Gao Tingyue won the men's 500m speed skating gold to set a new Olympic record at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
And the Chinese Xinhua news agency reported that Gao scored 34.32 seconds to break the previous Olympic record of 34.41 set by Norwegian Havard Holmfjord Lorentzen at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Gao is the first Chinese champion to win the gold medal in speed skating.
South Korea's Chan Min-kyu won the silver medal, clocking 34.39 seconds, while Japan's Wataru Morishig took third place, clocking 34.49 seconds.
