On July 26, 2016, Father Jacques Hamel, 85, was assassinated by two young terrorists claiming to be Daesh, in his church in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime).
At the end of the mass he had just celebrated, this man of prayer and peace collapsed under the blows of Islamist fanaticism.
His executioners were immediately killed by the police.
