(ANSA) - BERLIN, FEBRUARY 15 - The French actress IsabelleHuppert tested positive at Covid-19 and will not be able to collect her lifetime achievement award at the Berlinale Film Festival: the organizers have made it known.

Isabelle Huppert was due to receive the marginal prize in the competition for the Golden Bear today at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, which also hosted a retrospective of her films.

But she tested positive for coronavirus yesterday and she will have to stay in Paris.

However, she will participate in the ceremony from a distance.

This year's Berlinale, the first major European film festival of the year, has been criticized for not giving up on face-to-face events just as cases of Covid-19 are ramping up in Germany.

The 11-day competition will close tomorrow after the screening of around 250 films, a quarter less than in previous years.

The festival also complied with the rules regarding capacity in the halls and the obligation to wear a mask.

Isabelle Huppert, 68, has already won a string of trophies from the best festivals in the world, two Cesar awards - the French Oscar - a BAFTA and an Oscar nomination.
