The flute and its journey between love and grief was the focus of the symposium held by the Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa, with the participation of a number of researchers in the field of music and flute players.
The symposium presented by the poet Rod Marzouk began with a poem "Give Me the Flute and Sing" by Gibran Khalil Gibran.
The flute player Ahmed Abdo touched on the manufacture of this instrument, which was called the Shabab, and it is considered one of the oppressed instruments, although it is one of the main instruments in the eastern Takht bands. Arabic musical scale.
The method of playing this instrument, according to Abdo, is to place it on the side of the mouth at an angle of 45 degrees at its edge, and according to the blowing force, the pitch of the tones can be controlled to perform several musical positions.
Musical researcher Ibrahim Sheikh Omar pointed out that the flute that was made by chance varies in its maqams and tones, but it is one of the truest instruments that perform musical maqams with a high sense, evoking examples from history of the use of the flute as the poetry of Abu al-Nawwas.
