Homburg in Saarland: baby kidnapped from clinic

In Saarland, the police are investigating a 38-year-old woman who is said to have kidnapped a newborn.

According to a police spokeswoman, the suspect is in custody.

The 38-year-old is said to have entered the children's clinic in Homburg on Wednesday.

According to the police, she pretended to be an employee, for which she is said to have put on a smock.

She is said to have kidnapped a few days old boy from his mother's room.

According to the police, the child had disappeared from the room in the morning.

The police checked people who had entered the house on the day of the crime.

According to their own statements, they found the suspect.

On Thursday, a day later, officers searched the woman's home and found the child.

The 38-year-old and her 51-year-old partner were arrested.

The man is free again.

Shortly before the arrest, the suspect injured herself and was therefore treated in the hospital.

The youth welfare office took care of their three children between the ages of four and 14.

In addition, "some animals", including "wild animals", were accommodated.

According to the police, the woman has so far remained silent on the motive for the crime.
