A 28-year-old officer has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison in a lawsuit about the Munich police drug scandal.
According to the court, the police officer acquired drugs in more than 50 cases between 2016 and 2017 and sold them to colleagues.
In addition, he had warned his dealer about investigations by the narcotics squad and was thus guilty of divulging official secrets.
In his last word, he apologized for dealing with drugs "uninhibitedly and snotty".
At the start of the trial in early February, the accused, who had been suspended from duty, confessed to the crimes in tears.
The prosecution had accused the 28-year-old of 69 cases of drug purchases and demanded a sentence of three years in prison.
The rule of law must "show its teeth" because of the special position of the police, said public prosecutor Jakob Schmidkonz.
The defense pleaded for a lower sentence, which should be suspended on probation.
According to her account, the man was proven to have bought far fewer drugs than he had been accused of.
The scandal became public in 2020 after a major raid.
At the center of the story about police officers taking coke is a drug dealer who got the investigation rolling after he revealed his uniformed customers as a key witness and reported that cops were discounting cocaine.
For years, the "Soko Nightlife" had investigated the matter.
