(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 25 - The Ukrainian president, VolodymyrZelensky, says he is ready to talk about a ceasefire and peace.

Skynews reports this, quoting a spokesman for the president and recalling that Zelensky had previously refused the proposal to meet Vladimir Putin in Minsk.

The Ukrainians had proposed that the meeting be held in Poland.

The Ukrainian president's spokesman, Serhiy Nykyforov, wrote on Facebook: "I must deny the statements that we refused to hold talks. Ukraine was and will be ready to talk about a ceasefire and peace. This is our unchanged position. We accept this. "Offer from the Russian president. Right now, the parties are discussing the place and date for holding this negotiation process. The sooner the negotiations start, the more chances there will be of returning to normal life."
