(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, MARCH 10 - President Joe Biden will extend the obligation to have a mask on airplanes for another month.
Bloomberg reports citing informed sources.
The obligation would expire on March 18.
In the meantime, the CDC will study a series of measures that will come into force once it is definitively lifted.
The obligation to wear masks on airplanes was one of the first measures against Covid taken by the Biden administration and according to insiders it was a double-edged sword for the sector.
On the one hand, it has helped to decrease the fear of contagion and therefore led to a return to air travel which in 2020 had decreased by 95%.
On the other hand, underlines the Federal Aviation Administration, the obligation to wear a mask has increased the cases of violence on the flights with almost three quarters of the 5,981 reports of unruly passengers last year related to the refusal to wear it.
