(ANSA) - PARIS, MARCH 10 - The Court of Appeal of Paris confirmed on Thursday the indictment of Gérard Depardieu for "rape" and "sexual assault" after the complaint of the actress Charlotte Arnould, said the attorney general of Paris Rémy Heitz in a press release.

The Court therefore considers that, at this stage, there are serious or concordant indications that justify the indictment of Gérard Depardieu ", for these facts dating back to August 2018, Heitz declared.

Depardieu, 73, had filed a request in May 2021 for the nullity of his accusation on the grounds of the facts.

On February 3, the Court examined the request, which was opposed by the General Prosecutor of the Court of Appeal of Paris.

"The file is now back" to the investigating judge "for further information", added Rémy Heitz.
