The Belarusian ambassador in Kyiv, Igor Sokol, announced the departure of the last group of Belarusian diplomats from the Ukrainian lands due to being under siege by the Kyiv authorities.

In an interview with the Belarusian CTV channel, the ambassador said: “We were in a state of siege, and therefore the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to evacuate the embassy and leave the last group of employees, which consisted of 11 people and members of two diplomatic families.”

"The Ukrainian side was not able to provide us with security on the corridor that it provided towards Belarus, and for this reason we had to go to Moldova," Sokol added.

The Belarusian ambassador explained that the Ukrainian side closed all the financial accounts of the embassy and created unbearable conditions and there were constant threats of physical violence against the embassy staff.
