In Broichweiden, North Rhine-Westphalia, a drunk driver from Belgium mistook a police highway guard for a hotel.
The 51-year-old drove to the police area near Aachen on Thursday night with almost two per thousand, as the Cologne police announced.
When he asked a question to a police patrol who arrived at the same time, his drunkenness was noticed.
When the 51-year-old then had to give up his driver's license and a blood test was ordered, he put up considerable resistance.
To sober up, the police officers took the Belgian to police custody in Aachen.
