A ship operated by Danish shipping company Maersk has lost around 90 containers in the northern Pacific during rough weather conditions.

Among them were nine containers that were marked as dangerous goods and contained lithium-ion batteries, Maersk said.

About a hundred other containers were damaged.

There are no injuries.

On the way to the USA

The incident happened on the Dyros, sailing under the Liberian flag, on Monday.

The ship was en route from Yantian in China to the US west coast metropolis of Seattle.

Maersk, together with MSC, is one of the largest container shipping companies in the world.

The German shipping company Hamburg Süd also belongs to the Maersk Group.
