"The various governments are using an immediate intervention system for the families who are hosting the Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in our countries. As regards Italy, through the municipalities and the civil protection commissioner, we are evaluating an economic contribution ".
This was stated by the Italian Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese at the end of the extraordinary Council for internal affairs which took place today in Brussels.
At the heart of the Council is the translation into practical measures to guarantee the rights of refugees and the provision of assistance.
Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese confirmed that the Commission, among its proposals, indicated that of using an "IT platform" to register Ukrainian refugees who request "international protection" in the various states in order to avoid "possible abuses" but he also added that in the Council the ministers "shared the need to use the Empact IT system - which is part of Europol, ed - to counter possible threats to Europe, including terrorist ones, with the adoption of more targeted controls ".
