Today, the Ministry of Education inaugurated the “Martyr Roaa Sari” school for basic education, “Circle One” in Al-Salihiya area in Damascus, after rehabilitating and restoring it and repairing all the damage caused to it by the fire that broke out in it at the end of 2019.

The opening of the school included a ceremony that included artistic and heritage performances and songs performed by the students of the school and honoring Mrs. Hana Al-Lahham, who has studied at the school for nearly seventy years and is a resident of the area.

Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa explained in a statement to reporters that the restoration of the school was carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums and the Governorate of Damascus to preserve its heritage and history.

For his part, the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, confirmed that the rehabilitated school is one of the old schools and is distinguished by its archaeological and historical nature, stressing that the governorate is always working to expand the establishment and rehabilitation of schools and provide all necessary services.

It is noteworthy that a fire broke out in the school on December 22, 2019, and its damages were limited to material.

The inauguration was attended by the Secretary of the Damascus branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Husam al-Samman, the head of the Revolutionary Youth Union, Somar al-Zahir, a member of the Executive Office in the Damascus Governorate, Faisal Sorour, and the director of Damascus Education, Suleiman Younes, and a number of students' families.
