Judo Grand Slam Judo: Ido Levin loses battle for bronze Israel today

Judoka (up to 73 kg) missed the first medal of his career in this competition, after losing to a Spanish opponent and was ranked fifth • Kerem Primo and Maya Goshen were also eliminated • Tomorrow on the last day of the competition: Lee Kochman (up to 90 kg), Inbar Lanir (up 78 kg) and Raz Hershko (over 78 kg)

The Antalya Judo Grand Slam continued today (Saturday), when Ido Levin missed the first medal of his career in this competition, after losing the battle for the bronze and being ranked fifth. 

The 23-year-old Levin, who competes in the weight category up to 73 kg, had a busy day, when he defeated rivals from Turkey and Brazil in the first rounds and in the quarterfinals he defeated Rustem Orujob the Azerbaijan, 2016 Olympic runner-up and world runner-up. 

In the quarterfinals, he met the Giorgi Giorgi Tralshvili, who defeated the Israeli in the iPhone and sent him to the House of Consolation, where he defeated the Greek Michael Chotselshvli and moved on to compete for third place against the Spaniard Salvador Xus Rocca.

The fight was close and initially the Spaniard, Levin managed to equalize with Vasari 30 seconds to end the legal time, but within the gold score was disqualified and as mentioned finished third.  

Weighing up to 63 kg, Kerem Primo lost in the round of 16 to a Brazilian rival and Maya Goshen (up to 70 kg) was eliminated in the second round, also by a Brazilian.

As you may recall, on the opening day of the competition, the Israeli team achieved two bronze medals, by Timna Nelson Levy (up to 57 kg D) and Tal Flicker (up to 66 kg). 

The Grand Slam in Turkey, is the final preparation for one of the important goals of the year - the European Championships to be held at the end of the month in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Tomorrow, on the last day of the competition, Kochman (up to 90 kg), Inbar Lanir (up to 78 kg) and Raz Hershko (over 78 kg) will participate.
