Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed to the US Supreme Court after a vote of 53 to 47.
Brown Jackson and President Biden watched the vote together.
Jackson will take over after Justice Stephen Breyer retires at the end of the court's term and will become the court's first black female justice.
