the fatal shot.

Lyoya did not stay in the car, as is usual during checks, but got out.

Looking confused, he closed the door and moved away from the car.

A physical altercation then ensues.

After a good minute, the policeman tries to use his taser - and then fights with Lyoya for the gun.

The camera turns off and the fatal shots are missing from the recording.

But a neighbor's security camera captured the moment from afar.

In Michigan, a number of people took to the streets and also demonstrated in front of the police station.

In the USA, cases of police brutality are becoming known again and again - disproportionately often they are directed against black people.

The protests have been getting bigger for years - especially since the death of George Floyd.

In May 2020, a police officer pressed the 46-year-old on the ground until he suffocated.

In the case of Patrick Lyoya, investigations are now underway into the exact course of the fatal incident.
