With 87 votes in favor, the parliamentary majority in the Mexican Senate approved on Tuesday the Mining Law proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The president has said that, with this reform, the State ensures that the control of lithium is strategic for the development of the country.

However, there are no certainties about the role that this mineral will play, since its exploitation potential is still uncertain.

Carmen Aristegui interviewed Armando Ernesto Alatorre, president of the College of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico to analyze this issue.
