ICE HOCKEY: Lubor Dibelka gives private reasons for his surprising departure from the Tölzer Löwen.

Bad Tölz – Surprising departure from the lions: Top scorer Lubor Dibelka, 242 points in four seasons, leaves the Tölzer after being relegated to the Oberliga.

The 39-year-old, who had prematurely extended his contract for the DEL 2, had just moved to Reichersbeuern and also lived in the Isar valley and was already fully integrated into the youth work at EC Bad Tölz, rejected the Tölzer Löwen’s contract offer.

"Even though we made him a financially better offer than in the DEL 2," says Ralph Bader, Managing Director of the Tölzer Eissport-Gesellschaft, in a press release.

He cannot explain Dibelka's decision.

The 39-year-old German-Czech could not be reached by phone yesterday.

"We tried everything to keep Dibelka in Tölz," assures Bader, who knows him from Garmisch days.

According to Dibelka's statements, it was neither the offer nor the term of the contract.

"It is difficult for us to understand his decision, as he has not informed the GmbH or the ECT of his reasons for the rejection." The top scorer gave private reasons that he does not want to talk about.

"We have to accept that," says the TEG managing director.
