The return of happy days.
The Lille sale, one of the main in Europe, will take place on September 3 and 4, 2022, according to the town hall of the city.
It will thus make its return after two editions canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“All social, cultural and festive life is resuming, and we are going back to the usual format”, announced Jacques Richir, deputy mayor of Lille, confirming information from BFM-Grand Lille.
This event, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, transforms the center of Lille into a gigantic flea market for a weekend.
About 5,000 sellers, including a few hundred professional antique and second-hand dealers and thousands of private “bradeux”, are expected on the 75 kilometers of streets in the city center which will be car-free from Friday evening.
1.5 million people expected
Visitors, who usually come from all over France, but also from neighboring Belgium or even the United Kingdom or the Netherlands, will be able to hunt between the early hours of Saturday and Sunday 6 p.m.
Restaurant terraces will be extended for the event, which usually results in the consumption of several hundred tonnes of mussels.
"It should be a great edition, a few days after the start of the school year, because we can see that the desire to come out and find collective festivities is there", assured Jacques Richir, who expects attendance comparable to the latest editions, with around 1.5 million people.
