In Greece, the summer heat hits as early as May: Unusually high temperatures are expected in the coming days.

The Meteorological Office said temperatures in western and central Greece would rise to around 37 degrees.

Around 35 degrees are also expected on the islands of the Aegean.

The mini-heatwave is expected to last through the weekend.

North winds are expected to start on Sunday, and temperatures will then fall to around 30 degrees, which is normal for the season, meteorologists said on state television.

Doctors on the radio advised wearing loose, light-colored cotton clothing, drinking plenty of water, and not consuming alcohol or sugary drinks.

This is especially true for tourists from northern Europe, whose bodies need a few days to adjust to the temperatures.
