And the Spaniard hit a semi-final date with 19-year-old Chinese Sheng Kenwen in search of reaching the final and continuing the competition for her third title.
For her part, Kenwyn reached the semi-finals by defeating Hungarian Rika Luka Jani in two sets without a response.
Barezas is 51st in the women's world rankings, while Kenwyn is 54th, who is looking for her first title.
