A worker, Salvatore Ruggeri, aged 59, died yesterday in Letojanni (Me) probably from anaphylactic shock after being attacked by a swarm of bees and hornets on his way to work.
The man would have opened a cottage, finding insects inside, which would have taken him by surprise and attacked, focusing mainly on his face and head.
The man, as reported today by the Gazzetta del Sud, was transported to the hospital but died immediately after his arrival.
To ascertain with certainty the cause of death it was decided that an autopsy will be performed at the Messina Polyclinic.
