Sunday July 10, in the morning, a tourist plane which took off from Poitiers found itself in difficulty and tried to land at La Rochelle airport, in vain, reports France 3. The Cessna pilot was then seen forced to land at sea, but the maneuver failed.

As the plane sank, the pilot, a 50-year-old man, managed to get out of the cockpit.

A few minutes later, a yachtsman intervened to help him, the accident having taken place 5 kilometers from the port of La Rochelle, said the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic on Twitter.

If the reasons for the crash remain unknown for the moment, the man was taken care of by the emergency services in Saint-Martin-de-Ré before being admitted to the hospital center in La Rochelle, according to France 3.
