The board of directors of the Cojo (the organizing committee of the Games) which met on Tuesday validated the latest version of its card.

The preliminary phases of the Paris Olympics basketball events in 2024 (July 26 - August 11) will be played at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (North), shooting will go to Châteauroux (Indre) and boxing on the Villepinte site (Seine-Saint-Denis), the organizers announced on Tuesday, thus fixing the map of the Olympic sites.

The idea of an exchange between handball (Hall 6 at Porte de Versailles in Paris the first week, Villeneuve-d'Ascq the second) and basketball (Villeneuve-d'Ascq the first week, Accor Arena in Paris the second) was therefore validated.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA), as well as some players from the French team, Olympic vice-champion in Tokyo, were not in favor of this option which sees the tournament split into two and leave the capital during the first week.

If its final phase, which will be played at Bercy (Accor Arena), did not pose any problems, on the other hand "exile" in the Lille suburbs is still not accepted by FIBA and discussions will continue between the body International, the organizers, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) which must validate this new site map.
