Fatal arson in Thuringia – 20-year-old sentenced to eight and a half years in prison

A man poured gasoline in front of his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend's apartment and set it on fire. Another person who slept in the apartment died. The arsonist has now been convicted.

The regional court in Meiningen (Thuringia) has sentenced a 20-year-old to eight and a half years in prison.

The man started a fire that killed one person.

According to a spokesman, the court followed the requests of the public prosecutor and the defense with the sentence.

The judgment is already final.

According to the information, in December the convict poured gasoline in front of the attic apartment of his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend and set it on fire.

The woman did not stay in the apartment, her new boyfriend was able to save himself by jumping out of the window.

A colleague of the man was in the apartment.

He was caught in the fire while he was sleeping and died.

Originally, the 20-year-old was also a 16-year-old in court.

Their proceedings had been discontinued against a working condition of 60 hours.

The teenager drove to the apartment with the 20-year-old.

She had also called her ex-girlfriend several times on his cell phone to give him an alibi.
