A new protester was shot and killed in Khartoum on Thursday (July 21st), a union of pro-democracy doctors said, bringing the toll of repression to 115 since General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane's coup in October.

This protester was killed in Omdurman, the northwestern suburb of Khartoum, specifies the union, which has recorded thousands of injured since the putsch of October 25, 2021. This new violence comes as Sudan has recently been bereaved by other clashes, this time in the South, due to a tribal conflict that left a hundred dead before degenerating into violence across several states in the country, one of the poorest in the world.

If the pro-democracy rallies - which have taken place regularly since the putsch - ran out of steam again with the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha last week, activists want to relaunch the movement on Sunday.

They are thus calling for a demonstration for "

peaceful coexistence

" between the country's multiple ethnic groups and tribes, after the latest conflict in Blue Nile State last week.
