Italian club Napoli have announced the departure of Belgian player Dries Mertens during the current summer transfer window.
The club said on its official website, "Mertens rejected our offer to renew his contract with an annual salary of 4.5 million euros annually, and thus ended the relationship between the player and the club, which lasted nine years."
It is noteworthy that Mertens, 35, is the team's all-time leading scorer with 148 goals scored in 397 games.
