Tartous-Sana
The elements of the fire brigade and the elements of the Forestry Department of the Directorate of Agriculture in Tartous governorate, in cooperation with the civil defense elements and the cement factory, put out a fire that broke out in the Wadi Hussein site of the town of Al-Suda and came to an area estimated at 15 dunums.
The commander of the fire brigade in the governorate, Colonel Samir Shamma, said in a special statement to SANA reporter that the firefighting personnel and the members of the Forestry Department went to deal with the fire, as the severe ruggedness of the area prevented the firefighting mechanisms from reaching to put out the fire.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ali Younes, said in a similar statement that the fire broke out in an agricultural forest area in a deep valley, where the affected forest area reached 10 dunums and 5 dunums wooded by about 50 olive trees, at a rate of between 50 and 75 percent.
