The Russian Embassy in Washington confirmed that the United States of America is lying about allowing the Russian side, under sanctions, to inspect American soil within the framework of the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty.
The embassy said in a statement today, “The allegations of the US State Department that sanctions do not prevent Russian inspectors from conducting inspections on American soil is deception,” explaining that inspection activities under the START Treaty have been suspended since the beginning of 2020 by agreement of the parties due to the Corona pandemic.
"We are working with our American colleagues within the framework of the bilateral advisory committee of the strategic partnership to remove the organizational and technical obstacles to the resumption of inspections," the embassy added, noting that some issues were resolved, but not all.
The embassy explained that the remaining problems are related to the unilateral punitive measures against Russia imposed by the United States.
