A man crashed a friend's car into the facade of a hotel at Munich Airport.

There was a larger presence of police and fire brigade on site, as reported by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung".

According to the newspaper report, he previously stole the car from a workers' hostel in Eching, where he also lives.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning in Hallbergmoos, which is adjacent to the airport.

The hotel, which is said to be on Ludwigstrasse, was evacuated on Sunday morning because a risk of collapse had initially been suspected, a police spokeswoman said.

However, the technical relief organization gave the all-clear shortly afterwards: The statics were not affected by the accident.

Ultimately, there was no danger for the hotel guests.

The driver of the car was injured and taken to a hospital.

According to current knowledge, no other people were injured, it said.

The man was probably drunk at the wheel.
