The mayor of La Teste-de-Buch (Gironde) Patrick Davet (LR) on Saturday issued an order prohibiting access to the forest in his town, affected by a major fire in July which was declared "

extinguished

" Thursday by the prefecture.

This extraordinary fire, which started on July 12 near the Dune du Pilat and forced thousands of people to leave their homes, without causing any casualties, had covered 7,000 hectares of forest before being declared "

fixed

" on July 23 .

” on July 29.

It was announced "

extinguished

" on Thursday by the Gironde prefecture, which had at the same time lifted the ban on access to the forest areas damaged by fire this summer, maintaining however restrictions between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. linked to orange vigilance for the risk of forest fires in the department.

On its website, the town hall of La Teste, a tourist town in the Bassin d'Arcachon, assures that "

the forest massif is weakened and its access remains dangerous: the ground is very hot in places and there is a significant risk of falls. 'burnt trees or parts of trees

'.

According to the terms of the municipal decree, "

traffic and parking of people and vehicles with or without engine are prohibited on forest tracks, rural roads, farm roads, cycle paths and other paths open to the public in the forest massif of the commune damaged by the fire (...)

”.
