Today, the Public Services Regulatory Authority of the Sultanate of Oman announced a power outage in most of the governorates, in an event that has not occurred for nearly twenty years.

In a statement issued by the authority, the authority said: "The electricity was cut off in most of the governorates this afternoon," noting that the Oman Electricity Transmission Company is currently working to restore the current by connecting the loads gradually to ensure the stability of the network, which may require more time.

On the other hand, Namaa Electricity Holding Group denied the rumors and fabricated news being circulated in social media about the causes of the interruption, including the explosion of a power plant, a drop in the level of gas, or a cyber attack.

It is noteworthy that the last similar power outage was in 2006 when the Sultanate of Oman was hit by a devastating cyclone, which caused a four-day outage in some areas.
