5 arrested, 10 alcoholics fined

The Tsuen Wan Police District Anti-Triad Action Team and the Special Duty Team smashed an unlicensed "upstairs bar" in an industrial building on Sha Tsui Road last night (9th) and seized 12 bottles of spirits, 72 cans of beer and A batch of bar equipment.

A man surnamed Lin (22 years old) was arrested on suspicion of "unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages", "unlicensed possession of alcoholic beverages for sale" and violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G). They are being detained; 5 males and 5 females (aged 14 to 32) were fined for "drinking in an unlicensed establishment" and violating Cap. 599G.


In addition, the Special Duty Team of Mong Kok Police District launched the anti-pornography operation code-named "STEMPICKER" and the "FULLBOOM" gambling operation yesterday, smashing a prostitution establishment at No. 456 Shanghai Street, and seized accounting books, condoms , lubricants, towels and other evidence.

A man surnamed Wu (65 years old) was arrested on suspicion of "managing a prostitution establishment" and contravening the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F).

In addition, officers also smashed an illegal fishing machine casino at a unit at No. 72 Tung Choi Street and seized 3 fishing machines, 2 shooting game machines, 1 bird machine, a batch of game cards, card readers and gambling machines worth 200 yuan payment.

A man surnamed Chen (50 years old) was arrested for "managing gambling establishments" and violating Cap. 599F; a local woman and a mainland woman (58 and 36 years old) were arrested and fined for "gambling in gambling establishments" .

All the arrested persons have been released on bail pending investigation and are due to report in late September.
