The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russia has received about 4 million refugees from Ukraine and the People's Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, more than half of whom are citizens of Ukraine, pointing out that they took refuge in Russia voluntarily.

A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said today, quoted by RIA Novosti Agency: “Russia has received the largest number of refugees from Ukraine and the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, their number has reached about 4 million people, including more than 625,000 children, while the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees confirms that 2.4 million of them are citizens of Ukraine.” “.

The statement added: "All these Ukrainians voluntarily went to Russia and live freely, and no one prevents them from moving or leaving Russia, which was confirmed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights."

The statement pointed out that many of those who fled to Russia resorted to it voluntarily, and most of them express their gratitude to Russia and openly admit that they fled Ukraine for fear of their lives and to escape the criminal regime that did not allow them to escape and used them as human shields.

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement indicated that Russia has provided more than 9,500 temporary shelters with a total capacity of more than 95,000 people to receive refugees, providing them with the necessary financial, legal, psychological and medical assistance.
