Mont-Saint-Michel found itself surrounded by water this Sunday, September 11, giving way to a fabulous spectacle for visitors

Visitors to Mont-Saint-Michel, in the Manche department, were able to witness a breathtaking spectacle this Sunday, September 11.

The abbey found itself surrounded by the sea, as the tide reached its highest point this year.

For a few hours, Mont-Saint-Michel became an island again.

This Sunday, the tidal coefficient was 105, one of the highest of the year.

The site exceptionally remained open to the public on Sunday evening to allow visitors to enjoy the view from the iconic abbey.

It is the most visited French monument in 2021, with 608,421 visitors, despite a four-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
