France: philosopher Bruno Latour died, he was 75 years old

The well-known philosopher and sociologist Bruno Latour, considered one of the greatest contemporary French intellectuals, died yesterday evening in Paris at the age of 75: his publisher, Les Editions La Découverte, announced it today. (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - PARIS, 09 OCT - The well-known philosopher and sociologist Bruno Latour, considered one of the greatest contemporary French intellectuals, died yesterday evening in Paris, at the age of 75: his publisher, LesEditions La Découverte.


    "The publisher La Découverte learned with pain the news of the death of Bruno Latour, which took place last night in Paris. All our thoughts are directed to his family and his friends", the publishing house announced.


    Awarded the Holberg Prize (2013) and the Kyoto Prize (2021) for his work as a whole, Latour was one of the greatest figures in ecological thinking.

The philosopher of science, sociologist and anthropologist has written (alone or in collaboration) works such as' The factory of law.

    Born on June 22, 1947 in Beaune, to a family of wine merchants from Burgundy, Latour studied philosophy and then trained as an anthropologist in the Ivory Coast.
