The participants in the second walk of EMISA recipients toured a group of important religious and historical places and important archaeological homes

In the streets and lanes of the old city of Homs, they were acquainted with specialists in archaeological and tourism affairs about the history and landmarks of these places and their historical importance.

This tour, in which the activities of the civil and local community participated, included the shrine of the Sphinx, Dar Abdullah Farkouh, Al-Khidr Mosque, Al-Zahrawi Palace and Umm Al-Zinar Church.

Ramez Al-Hussein, director of the Mada Cultural Project and one of the founders of the EMISA Forum, explained that 20 archaeological sites have been identified to be visited through three tracks, through which participants learn about places they may not know in their city, noting that the first track included a visit to Bab Palmyra, the Tower, the Wall and the Mar Elian Monastery. Al-Sarraj Mosque, the House of Mufid Al-Amin, the Church of the Forty, and the Ghassanian schools.

In turn, Dr. Ramez Bitar, one of the founders of the forum, pointed out that an integrated work plan for the activities and events of the forum, including this path, had been developed, with the aim of creating a state of knowledge for the participants, through what specialists provided with an adequate explanation of the history and era of each place.

For her part, Dr. Caroline Farkouh, an architecture specialist, gave an overview of Dar Farkouh, its space, artistic and archaeological features, its history, and its preservation of its architectural technology until now, pointing out the need for these initiatives to continue so that the largest possible number of people and those interested in knowing their city’s history, heritage and originality.

And engineer Fattah Ibrahim found that the walk achieves a cognitive and scientific aspect for the participants, and contributes to introducing them to their city, as well as creating a state of solidarity, love and intimacy among them.
