Alongside the official dollar, fixed by the Central Bank at 157 pesos and reserved for imports, a dozen rates coexist.

The latest, quickly dubbed the “Qatar dollar” by the local media, is priced at 316 pesos.

It concerns since Thursday the expenses of more than 300 dollars per month carried out abroad by credit card.

Calculated by applying three different taxes to the official rate, it was put in place to limit the demand for foreign currencies in the run-up to the austral summer and the football World Cup.
