Shooting at a Texas hospital leaves two employees dead, including a nurse

Two employees of the Methodist Dallas Medical Center hospital in Dallas died after the attack at noon this Saturday. Police shot the suspect, who was hospitalized with unspecified injuries and remains in custody.

Two employees at a hospital in Dallas, Texas, died around noon Saturday in a shooting that led to the arrest of a suspect, police said.

Local media cite sources indicating that

at least one of the victims was a nurse.

The Methodist Health System hospital system said in a statement this afternoon that authorities responded to a shooting at

Methodist Dallas Medical Center

around 11:00 am.

"The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect shot and killed two hospital employees," the statement said.

Police shot the attacker, who was taken to another hospital and

remains in custody with unspecified injuries.

The motive for the attack and the identities of the victims are unclear.

"The Methodist Health System Hospital System family is heartbroken by the loss of two of our beloved team members," the statement added.

"(...) We want to assure our patients and employees that Methodist Dallas Medical Center

is safe and that there is no current threat."
