(ANSA) - BEIJING, OCTOBER 27 - Several videos posted on social media showed hundreds of demonstrators and clashes with the police in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to protest against the tough anti-Covid blockade that the Chinese authorities have imposed for almost 80 days.

These are the first protests since 2008, then promoted by ethnic minorities.

The images, reports the BBC, would have been filmed today and would involve mostly migrant workers of the Han ethnic group, dominant in China equal to 90% of the population.

A video shows hundreds of people on the streets with officials busy with a loudspeaker "calling for calm and turning back".
